After more than two decades together, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have pulled the plug on their relationship, a rep for the actress has confirmed.
The acting veterans were together for 23 years and were one of Hollywood's longest-lasting couples.
A spokesperson said they split several months ago.
"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer," Sarandon's rep said in a statement to People magazine.
"No further comments will be made."
So much for Christmas cheer. Humbug!
The golden couple's long-standing relationship was considered an oddity in Hollywood terms; a stronghold that stood the test of time and deflected all the celebrity brouhaha that so often sends showbiz unions sinking.
Much fuss was made of their age difference when they first hooked up - Robbins is 12 years her junior - and chatter as to why they never skipped down the aisle.
Addressing the marriage talk, Sarandon has said in the past: "I won't marry because I am too afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted – maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80."
The pair began dating in 1988 after they met on the set of their film Bull Durham. They have two sons together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17.
Sarandon also has a daughter, actress Eva Amurri, from a previous relationship with director Franco Amurri.
The Thelma and Louise siren, 63, was recently in New Zealand - without Robbins in tow - promoting Peter Jackson's new flick The Lovely Bones.
