Supermodel Elle Macpherson shares stunning makeup free selfie

We're used to seeing Elle Macpherson looking glamorous on the red carpet and fashion photo shoots.

But the 54-year-old has shared a refreshingly down-to-earth selfie to Instagram proving that away from the spotlight her life is pretty much like everyone elses.

Posting on her Instagram story, the supermodel shared a photo of herself makeup free on the school run with her hair pulled back in a messy bun.

Unlike other celebrities her age, Macpherson has shunned plastic surgery and instead says her youthful appearance is down to a healthy diet and regular exercise.

"I haven't done any plastic surgery, not that I have any judgment — it just hasn't been my choice. I like a natural looking face," she told UK talk show This Morning in June.

The supermodel said that following a plant-based diet and taking supplements have helped her look younger than her 54 years.

"When I turned 50 I realised things I did in my 20s weren't working anymore," Macpherson said. "I follow a plant-based alkaline diet, focusing on healthy, whole food. I take green powder and protein powder every day, and I drink three litres of water a day."
