Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Even before he gets his nickname in the first episode of this New Zealand-filmed TV series, Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) shows his form both in bed and on the battlefield. Based on the life of the Thracian warrior, slave and revolutionary from the first century BC, Blood and Sand, begins as Spartacus and his fellow fighters align with Rome to protect their homelands. When Roman army leader Glaber (Craig Parker) changes his battle plans, leaving Thracian villages vulnerable, Spartacus leads a rebellion and deserts the Roman army to return to his village and his wife Sura. But after a night of hot and heavy lovemaking Glaber captures them and separates the pair. And so Spartacus' fight for survival, and his search for Sura, begins.
