Steve Carell joins TV drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston

Steve Carell is returning to the small screen.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the 56-year-old actor has joined an untitled morning show drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

This is Carell's first series regular role since he wrapped The Office back in 2011.

According to THR, Steve will play Mitch Kessler, a morning show anchor, who is struggling to stay relevant in the media world.

Both Aniston and Witherspoon will executive produce the series, which has already earned a two-season, 20-episode order, the Daily Mail reports.

The untitled Apple production is slated to premiere in 2019.

The series will also mark Jennifer's return to TV after Friends concluded in 2004.

"Jen and I are doing a show together based on morning talk show hosts," Reese told Andy Cohen back in 2017 when Apple originally announced the project.

"Yeah, it's gonna be great. It's a really interesting world."

Until then, Aniston has a new film—Dumplin'—premiering December 7.

Witherspoon just finished filming season two of Big Little Lies.

And Carell is gearing up for the release of Vice, a bio-drama, on December 25.
