KEY POINTS:
You'll know Rikki Don't Lose that Number. You've probably sauntered along in a daze to FM (No Static At All).
And in September you can hear those Steely Dan classics live in concert.
They play two shows in New Zealand, the Vector Arena in Auckland on September 22 and the Westpac Arena in Christchurch on September 24.
Founding members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, who met in 1967 and formed Steely Dan in 1971, will be joined on stage by a 10-piece band for the tour, their first in New Zealand and Australia.
Amazingly, after a string of hits, like Reelin' In the Years, Do It Again, and Peg, and a number of classic albums including Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied and Aja, the band won the Grammy award for Album of the Year in 2001 for their eighth album, Two Against Nature. Steely Dan tickets go on sale on April 23, from Ticketek.
Meanwhile, crazy and noisy Japanese rock'n'rollers the King Brothers play the Masonic, Devonport, April 28; Descarga Cubana, K Rd (all ages), April 29; and the Dogs Bollix, May 2.
Helmet and body armour recommended.
