Stars pay tribute to axed comedy show Community

Stars, producers and fans have spoken out in support of Community, the much-loved cult US sitcom that was axed over the weekend.

Community, created by Dan Harmon, was ended by NBC over the weekend after five seasons, The Hollywood Reporter said, despite a Twitter campaign for '#sixseasonsandamovie'.

The show, led by stars Joel McHale and Alison Brie, was set in the fictional twon of Greendale, Colorado and followed a bunch of community school kids and their tutors.

It was popular because of its wry quips, pop culture references and occasional musical interludes, but suffered a tough season four after the controversial loss of Harmon.

Co-star Chevy Chase also quit, and original cast member Donald Glover starred in only a handful of episodes.

The stars of the show took to Twitter to pay tribute to the show, which lasted for 97 episodes since it began in 2009.

Community canceled- no surprise really but still stupid how NBC has to go by TV ratings when they axed it. People barely watch TV nowadays...

If only Community's ratings were as low as Parks and Rec, they mighta gotten renewed. But they stubbornly performed better and got axed.
