He has performed to audiences around the world - including to royalty - for almost two decades, but it is his performance in his hometown that has him nervous.
Ballet dancer and Kiwi expat Andrew Bowman is performing in the Royal New Zealand Ballet's production of Giselle, which opened last night.
The 34-year-old had never danced in front of his home crowd - save for a part as an extra when he was 12.
"I'm nervous, but very excited to be performing in front of my family and friends. I've got lots of cousins and it's going to be great to do this in front of them."
Bowman, who grew up in Massey in West Auckland, left for Australia in his teens and went on to graduate with honours from The Australian Ballet School in 1993. He later joined the Royal Danish Ballet and is now based in Copenhagen with his wife and two young children, aged 4 and 7.
