Robyn Malcolm is working on a new and bigger series of the comedy-drama Agent Anna.
"We're still storylining and still trying to work out the arc of the next season, which is very exciting," she told the Herald on Sunday.
"The first season was made on the smell of an oily rag and a hiss and a roar in about three seconds flat." That series tested the waters with only six episodes. "Now we've got a chance to really come back with something bigger," Malcolm said.
TVNZ confirmed the second series was in development after the ratings success of the first shows. "We believe viewers could really identify with the characters and the story of a woman who loses everything and has to rebuild her life," a TVNZ spokeswoman said.
TVNZ and New Zealand On Air jointly funded the last season.
