Lindsay Lohan is settling into solitary confinement at Lynwood's Century Regional Detention Center after surrendering herself to a 90-day sentence. But how long will she actually serve? How much will she earn for her post-jail interview? What will she blab in her first post-jail tweet? And will her new trout pout lips and bleached blonde hair extensions survive the slammer? As your resident celebritologist, I don't have the answers to those questions, but I can tell you LiLo is not the first child star to go bad. Check out these ones....
1. Drew Barrymore, who starred in E.T. as a precocious six-year-old child, partied at Studio 54 as a kid and by the tender age of 13 had smoked ciggies, drunk alcohol and tried pot. By 14 she attempted suicide. Two stints in rehab followed. Now the celebrated actress and producer has turned her life around and is one of Hollywood's biggest players.
2. Jodie Sweetin may be remembered as the cute middle sister in Full House, the cheesy sitcom that made the Olsen twins famous, but there was nothing sweet about the angelic blonde when she developed an addiction to crystal meth. She allegedly lost her marriage and several teeth and was hospitalised after a night of partying. She is expecting her second child and is planning her wedding (her third) to DJ Morty Coyle.
3. Mackenzie Phillips didn't take it One Day at a Time when she announced last year that she was raped by her father at the age of 19. The former child star told Oprah she had a decade-long incestuous relationship with her dad John Phillips, singer of The Mamas and the Papas. Now 50, Mackenzie has battled drugs, been in and out of rehab and faced two near fatal overdoses. She told Winfrey she tried marijuana at 11-years-old and her father injected her with cocaine.
4. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were the Marc and Matthew of my generation: cute, cheeky and irreverent. But the stars of The Lost Boys got hooked on prescription drugs and booze. Haim, 38, was found dead earlier this year and his death was ruled an apparent drug overdose.
5. Brittany Murphy began her entertainment career at age four learning to sing, dance and act. Her first Hollywood role came at aged 13. But last year the actress passed away in her bathroom, the result of an alleged accidental overdose to prescription drugs.
6. River Phoenix was the heartthrob of my generation. At 10-years-old he appeared on American TV and developed a promising acting career that saw him nominated for an Oscar. But it was all over outside Johnny Depp's Viper Room night club in 1993 when he collapsed and died from a heroin and drug overdose.
