She wasn't surprised by some of the rhetoric he has unleashed on the campaign trail, including attacking illegal migrants from Mexico. But she said behind Trump's strong words was a big heart.
"When I lived in New York, I saw Donald a lot and his extended family welcomed me warmly," she said. "Donald is a mega star in New York. Everywhere he goes, people yell out to him like he is a long-lost friend. Donald's sense of humour is very, very funny. He calls a spade a spade and he is who he is."
So if Trump becomes President does Bax expect an invitation to the White House?
"I jolly well hope so, even though he might not think I am a '10' any more either."
Klum responded to Trump with a barbed video. In it she is wearing a shirt with a piece of paper that has "10" on it.
During the clip, a man wearing a Trump mask appears and rips away the 10 away to reveal 9.99.
Bax said if Trump took out the race to be the Republican candidate for the 2017 presidential race she would have to sit on the fence over his chances against the Democrat's likely selection, Hillary Clinton.
Bax has met Clinton a couple of times and loves the fact she is a strong intelligent woman and a grandma, too.
