Spy understands the ink is almost dry on the judges' contracts for the new season of Masterchef. Al Brown has been announced and Spy's sources say Josh Emett will return, leaving space for one more to replace Ray McVinnie.

The name on everyone's lips is Metro restaurateur of the year Mark Wallbank, but he could be challenged by bolter Nic Watt from Masu.
Spy knows Emett and Wallbank well, but when asked for comment they uncharacteristically did not return calls.
A TV3 spokeswoman said the network was not ready to announce the final line-up. Wallbank may not be a chef, but he is respected by everyone in Auckland hospitality. Spy is calling it for Wallbank, with Watt perhaps appearing as a guest judge.
