Home and Away fans are in for the ride of their lives this week, when a scuffle between Andy and reformed bad-boy Tank causes a gas canister to dislodge and ignite during the hospital fundraiser. A catastrophic event unfolds that will change the lives of Summer Bay's favourite residents forever.

Expat Kiwi and former Shortland Street star Kyle Pryor plays Dr Nate Cooper on the hit Aussie show, and his character gets busy saving lives after the explosion.

"Home and Away is never short of dramatic storylines, which is great for an actor," he said.

"The aftermath of the explosion sees a few characters exit, which will send shockwaves through the bay for quite some time."

Pryor is loving the show. "Working on Home and Away is a fantastic experience.
I watched the show as a kid, so to be part of the cast is a privilege.

"Sydney life is definitely an added bonus. I am based in the eastern suburbs, which is pretty much the hub of activity and I am close to most of the popular beaches, including Bondi. I know Shortland Street shoots a lot of interior hospital scenes, so I always feel extremely lucky being able to shoot half of the week at Palm Beach on Home and Away."

Pryor has not forgotten us and intends to bring his gorgeous girlfriend, writer/director Julia-Rose O'Connor, home for a visit soon.

"I haven't been back to New Zealand for a few years and I miss it. I keep in regular contact with family so I am always up-to-date with what is happening over there.

"Julia has never been to New Zealand. We have plans to take a trip this year and I am pretty confident she will be amazed by the Kiwi landscape and culture."

Pryor was bashful about being dubbed one of Australia's hottest men on TV.

"One of Australia's hottest men? Who's saying that? Haha. That's a lot to live up to, but if it gets the show more fans and more people watching my work, then I'm a happy guy."

Tonight Pryor is off to the Logie Awards, where he enjoys catching up with fellow expats.

"I always bump into a few. Last year, it was Ido Drent, Robbie Magasiva, Sara Wiseman and Craig Hall. We always have a good chin-wag about where we've been and what we've been doing and reminisce about our Kiwi adventures."

Pryor was pleased to hear that Kiwi actresses Anna Jullienne, Cian Elyse White and Michelle Langstone are flying over to celebrate their success in the South Pacific Pictures' drama 800 Words.

The show is up for several awards, including Most Outstanding Drama Series and Best Drama Series, as well as a Best Actor nomination for Erik Thomson and Best New Talent for Benson Jack Anthony.

Last year, Danielle Cormack won Most Outstanding Actress for her role as Bea Smith in Wentworth.
