On Wednesday night Spy met My Kitchen Rules' winning duo, Steve Flood, 31, and Will Stewart, 37. And we weren't the only ones.

Excitement levels were high during our meet-and-greet after TV2 broadcast the grand finale of the Australian series, where the Sydney-based Brits secured top prize and a cheque for $250,000. It was a double celebration as Flood also marked his birthday, a milestone celebrated at SPQR, where owner Chris Rupe had a special orange and chocolate tart waiting for the birthday boy.
But before Spy could ask if it was better than their winning peaches and cream dessert, the hilarious Stewart and handsome Flood started talking to a fan. She was the type who would not leave the table despite several requests. After an hour with things getting a little tense, staff asked her to leave. She didn't.
Spy came to the rescue and got the boys into a cab. She followed in the cab behind, pea-soup-coloured contact lenses sparkling. Lose that cab, we said and our driver did just that, taking us to Euro, which impressed the boys - especially when they were told executive chef Gareth Stewart was a judge on My Kitchen Rules NZ.
