Ageing lothario rocker Rod Stewart and his 39-year-old third wife, Penny Lancaster, announced today they are expecting their second child in March. The baby - Stewart's eighth - is due weeks after he celebrates his 66th birthday. Mother, father and the scientists behind Viagra, are presumably all very happy.
The man famous for hair highlights and a leather hide no longer needs to warble Do Ya Think I'm Sexy when his virility was the winner of the day. The soccer-mad Scot and his overactive loins will be the envy of all over-sexed men of retirement age. Hugh Hefner will be shuffling around the mansion in his velveteen robe and slippers spitting tacks.
Britain's Daily Mail lists Stewart's oldest child as 46-year-old Sarah Streeter; the result of a relationship he had with art student Susannah Boffey when he was just 18. Streeter spent the first four years of her life in a children's home before she was adopted into another family.
Stewart married Alana Hamilton in 1979 and the couple have two children. Their daughter Kimberley,30, has made a name for herself on the Hollywood party circuit doing very little, bar stumbling out of night clubs with that other dimwit blonde, Paris Hilton.
Their aspiring DJ son Sean, 29, was arrested several times for assault and drug possession. He appeared on Celebrity Rehab in 2008 and his bio page from the show quotes Stewart the Younger as saying: "Being Rod's son is a curse... my dad must have been pretty wasted when he had me."
Rod's daughter Ruby, 23, was a result of his relationship with girlfriend Kelly Emberg, a Sports Illustrated model from Texas, who now owns an interior design store on Melrose.
His marriage to Kiwi Rachel Hunter produced Renee, 18, and Liam, 15, who are, by all accounts, well-adjusted and down-to-earth.
Stewart has 4-year-old son Alastair to Lancaster. The couple's second child will reportedly be the last, with Rod telling British talk show GMTV last year: "One more and then we're going to close the office." Presumably he means a vasectomy, but for the model railway enthusiast, we wonder if it really will be the last train leaving the station.

* Britain's Gerry Burks fathered a son earlier this year at the age of 75 and credits a diet of bananas.

* Wellington's Sir Bob Jones, 70, told M2 magazine last year: "I have vast numbers of children ranging from 4 to 40 years of age. All have been produced by diverse women without my consent, my participation having been fleeting."
