Spy: Carter set to kick great mate McCaw into touch

Dan Carter's much-anticipated book - My Story - is going global.

The Rugby World Cup-winning hero is preparing for his family's shift to France with a whirlwind tour of New Zealand promoting the book. It delves into Carter's glittering career, including revelations of how serious his knee injury was during the All Blacks' triumphant ride through the Rugby World Cup's knock-out phase.

And it won't just be Kiwi fans reading Carter's tell-all over the festive season.

Spy can reveal My Story will also be released in the UK, France, Japan, Australia and North America.

Publishers are doing a special run of the book in Japanese and French for those far-flung markets.

Carter holds the record for the most points scored in test rugby and the international reach of My Story could mean the rugby ace will break the record for New Zealand's best-selling rugby book. That record is currently held by his great mate, Richie McCaw for his 2012 autobiography, The Open Side. It sold 120,000 copies, eclipsing the 55,000 sold of Colin Meads All Black.

Spy reckons Carter's new boss, Jacky Lorenzetti, president of Paris-based rugby club Racing 92, will be among fans lining up for a signed copy of My Story.

We revealed last month the French multi-millionaire has a big schedule of publicity engagements lined up for Carter - who will be formally welcomed by Racing 92 on November 28. That is expected to include promotions for some of Lorenzetti's wine interests.

Carter - who has rented a house in Paris for him, his wife Honor and their young sons Fox and Marco - is expected to be a regular feature at A-list parties and events featuring corporate high-fliers in the French capital.
