Spy hears Carlos Spencer is dusting off his footy boots and is set to return to his beloved Eden Park for a cameo role in the NRL Auckland Nines in February. In what capacity Spy can only speculate, but we hear King Carlos is already in intense training and will be in very good shape.
The former All Black, almost as well known for his role as the Toffee Pops dreamboat as his immense skills on the rugby field, will be flying from South Africa for the tournament.
As the undisputed star of the Blues rugby team in its winning heyday, his rumoured appearance at a rival code's big tournament has our tongues wagging. The innovative rugby playmaker is still as fit as a fiddle, so will he be playing in the tournament? Is there a celebrity game to be announced?
More importantly for Spy readers, will he take off his shirt? If he does, will his abs be better than those of former NRL hottie Matt Cooper, who is also coming over for the tournament?
Other sporting VIPs to confirm their attendance include Andrew Johns, one of the greatest NRL players; former Warriors favourite Nathan Friend; New Australian league coach Mal Meninga; and our favourite dual Aussie international Wendell Sailor.
