She may have delayed her honeymoon once to make an appearance at the Emmys, but Anna Paquin wasn't prepared to do it a second time. The True Blood star snubbed the New York premiere of her movie The Romantics last week to enjoy a lovey dovey break with her husband Stephen Moyer in Ravello, Italy.
The newlyweds are celebrating their recent Malibu nuptials with a honeymoon in the Southern Italian resort town - three weeks after they tied the knot. Looking casual in T-shirts, shorts and sunnies, the Hollywood A-listers even posed for a couple of fans.
In the October issue of Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine, Moyer said he proposed to A-Paqs while they holidayed in Hawaii with his two kids.
"There was a song in the first season [of True Blood] called White Sandy Beach of Hawaii by Bruddah Iz. It started as a joke, but then we decided to go to Hawaii with my kids, and that's where [I proposed] - on the beach in Hawaii. I had a ring designed by a jeweller friend of mine."
But he says he wasn't always enamoured with the idea of love. "I'm that dude who loved being out of a relationship so I could wander around London in a long coat with a bottle of red, writing crap poetry thinking I was in Withnail and I," Moyer told Cosmo.
Now he says he likes determined women. "I'm a big fan of strong women. I want someone who's my intellectual superior. And most women are," Moyer said.
He reckons A-Paqs is great at expressing her feelings and sorting issues out. "Anna's great at that. If something's making you uncomfortable, you have to talk about it."
We wonder how she's feeling about the bad reviews she received for her chick flick The Romantics. Paquin stars alongside Tom Cruise's wife Katie Holmes in the rom-com about a group of 30-something friends saying farewell to their Harvard lives at a wedding.
The Los Angeles Times called it "a bland affair". The Huffington Post described it as "unremarkable and, at times, aggressively formulaic". While the New York Times summed it up as: "Another wedding movie, another 90-plus minutes of half-baked suspense wondering whether the bride-and-groom-to-be will go through with the ceremony or back out at the last second." Ouch.
