It's raising money and awareness for Batten disease, a rare and fatal autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder that begins in childhood.
The song may double as a Rugby World Cup anthem: it features All Blacks, the fire power of creatives Joel Little, Taika Waititi and Flight of the Conchords, and Kiwi music stars Lorde, Kimbra, Gin Wigmore, The Naked & Famous, Broods and more.
Ahead of its debut on Seven Sharp on Thursday night, lips are tightly sealed about the Auckland red carpet launch, the sound and what's in the video, but Howard-Smith told Spy: "It will be an amazing launch of the song, I think people will be blown away on what everyone has achieved together tomorrow night."
Howard-Smith's organisation has been international on scale and helping him in Los Angeles has been Queen of the ex-pats, actress Fleur Saville, who has been juggling several projects involving Kiwis in Hollywood.
Tomorrow night she will attend a BBQ at Joel Little's house to coincide with launch festivities back home. Spy understands Lorde will be in attendance.
Saville told Spy: "I worked alongside Brooke Howard-Smith up here and we got SO MUCH support from every Kiwi in LA doing the song. It features ... well - everyone. Go Kiwis on world stage, go!"
Saville has just finished another song project with the Sami Sisters.
"We shot a video clip for the Sami Sisters, Kiwis unite in the desert of California. Directed by Madeleine Sami, produced by me ... starring Keisha Castle-Hughes and Sean James Murphy.
"We shot at a wonderful place called Pioneer Town for a few days. It's near Joshua Tree, it was 102 degrees! It's an old western town, far away from anywhere. It's for the unreleased video clip, the song name is August. #AugustSong."
