Is the dream over for alternative-rock heroes Sonic Youth?
That might be the case after the announcement that the band's founders, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, are splitting up after 27 years of marriage.
A statement, first reported by Spin.com, confirmed the future of the band was "uncertain" once 2011's touring commitments were over.
The statement read: "Musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, married in 1984, are announcing they have separated. Sonic Youth, with both Kim and Thurston involved, will proceed with its South American tour dates in November. Plans beyond that tour are uncertain.
"The couple has requested respect for their personal privacy and does not wish to issue further comment."
