My first job was… as a cashier at a local liquor store.
It taught me… that people from all walks of life have drinking problems. It also served as training for me moving to NZ and getting my liver ready.
My big break came… I think I'm still waiting for it. I'm waiting for my call from Oprah. But if there was a big break, I just did Montreal's Just For Laughs festival, which is something I've wanted to do ever since I became a comedian.
The last job I quit was… I worked as a designer in an advertising agency. Until comedy started taking over my life.
The most famous person I've ever met is… Jane Krakowski from 30 Rock and [Ellie Kemper], the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
She was... great. I can definitely advise you to meet your heroes whenever you can. When I did Just for Laughs, she and I had the same dressing room. She was on before me and then when I got there she was still in the dressing room. Real nice, real polite, absolutely lovely.
The best time I've had on set was… when we recorded our 200th episode [of 7 Days] and Jon Toogood and the choir sang - it blew my mind. The producers got each of us a commemorative watch engraved with "200 episodes", which is something that's really special to me.
But the worst was… in our old Ponsonby studio when we had no aircon and the temperatures were so high in summer and freezing in winter.
My dream project would be… a comedy series with Oprah where we attempt to do different jobs and live off the salary they live off.
