It's just her week. Hollie Smith's beautiful new album Humour and The Misfortune Of Others, released on Monday, is getting five-star reviews, television networks are scrambling for an interview and, to top it all off, she has announced she will be touring next month.
Produced by her Wellington friend Riki Gooch, the new record tracks an emotional rollercoaster following the release of her debut album, Long Player, in 2007. It is described as the personal hit we were waiting for.
Smith has said she is now focusing on rebuilding a relationship with her home audience.
"It's kind of hard [because] it's been so long. But this is not a comeback. If I could have done it quicker, I would have," she told Canvas magazine.
Starting in Timaru on Wednesday April 7, Smith will move to Dunedin and Christchurch before arriving in Auckland on April 14 to play at Sale Street.
She then plays at Wellington's San Francisco Bathhouse and Napier's Black Barn.
