Six anthem fails: How does Fergie's shocker compare?

Pop star Fergie's efforts singing the American national anthem at the NBA All-Star-Game have been labelled as "the worst rendition ever".

But is it? Here's a selection of some of the worst anthems of all time to compare it to.

Steven Tyler, NFL AFC Championship, 2011

Steven Tyler's performance was reportedly met with disgust, with sports website Bleacher saying Tyler had "butchered" the anthem. Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock said on Twitter it was "far more obscene" than Janet Jackson's flash at the Super Bowl. A favourite in the region because of his local ties, Tyler was cheered by the crowd anyway.

Kat DeLuna, Dallas Cowboys game, 2008

Billboard chose Kat DeLuna's anthem at a Dallas Cowboys game in 2008 as its worst ever anthem, saying the Dominican singer "never quite recovered" from her warbling and overblown performance. Crucially, DeLuna believes she's delivering the best American anthem ever.

Christina Aguilera, Super Bowl, 2011

There's nothing wrong with her performance - Christina Aguilera was in typically fine vocal form at the 2011 Super Bowl. But crucially, she messed up some of the lyrics, and was roundly criticised for it.

Michael Bolton, 2003

Apart from a pretty bad echo, Michael Bolton wasn't doing too badly at a baseball game in 2003 - until he snuck a peek at the lyrics which had been written onto the palm of his hand, and was deservedly booed for it. Watch the horror unfold below:

Carl Lewis, 1993

Sprinter Carl Lewis made everyone laugh with his national anthem in 1993 - including these two newsreaders who get slightly hysterical while watching the clip:

Roseanne Barr, 1990

Tuneless, atrocious and unlistenable - and it was on purpose. Roseanne Barr's 1990 national anthem has to surely be the worst, and most controversial, anthem ever. Roseanne's heard Fergie's effort, and thinks she did the better job.
