Ciara was served with a lawsuit while she performed on stage in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
The Goodies hitmaker was handed legal documents by a mystery woman standing in the front row in the middle of her performance at the LA Pride parade, after allegedly cancelling a performance scheduled for Friday night at the last minute.
The 27-year-old star initially took the papers but quickly handed them back to the woman, who told gossip website TMZ.com: "She just got served. She's going away, she got served though."
Popular West Hollywood hotspot Hit Factory is suing the singer for bailing on a performance scheduled for Friday night.
According to the lawsuit, Ciara signed a $10,000 deal to appear at The Factory on June 7 one day before she's supposed to perform on the main stage at the 2013 LA Pride parade, and while she mentioned contract restrictions, she allegedly made it seem like she could perform at both events until she pulled out just four days before the gig.
The singer's management insist that they informed Hit Factory that she was unable to be there but claim the club continued to promote her appearance there anyway.
A spokesperson said: "Ciara's commitment to perform at LA Gay Pride on Saturday night prevented her from making such a Friday night appearance. Despite being notified early last week that Ciara could not appear, the Factory continued to market and promote Ciara's appearance.
"The reason for the continued marketing/promotion is unclear, as it is not known why the Factory would intend to continue to mislead the public, to cause damage to the LA Gay Pride festival and to attempt to portray Ciara in a negative light."
