Previously: Classical singer Katherine Jenkins has blasted internet rumours that she had an affair with soccer star David Beckham.
The 32-year-old Welsh singer took to her Twitter page to slam rumours circulating on the social networking site as "hurtful and untrue".
The rumours were reportedly sparked when a phony magazine cover surfaced online, which sensationally claimed Beckham, 37, had left his wife of 13 years, Victoria, 38, according to the UK's Telegraph newspaper.
Online gossip also claimed that Beckham had taken out a super-injunction to keep details of the alleged affair under wraps.
Jenkins tweeted: "Dear Twitter friends, I've read some horrible rumours on here & want u 2 know I absolutely deny I've had an affair with David Beckham. The rumours are very hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable."
She then explained that she has only ever met the dad-of-four on two occasions.
"I've only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 & on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012," she wrote.
"We were out in a group of friends & it was just a normal fun evening out," she added.
"Just so we are clear I have never been on my own with him and never arranged to meet up."
Several of her baffled followers then replied, telling the singer they had not even heard of the claims until she brought attention to them.
One said: "Um, I wasn't aware there were any rumours. Neither was anyone else? Strange move by Katherine Jenkins."
Chimed another, reports The Sun newspaper: "Katherine, completely unprompted, has denied she slept with David Beckham. Rumours from Twitter only. Very odd."
Web 'troll'
Meanwhile, the British tabloid reports that Jenkins has contacted the police after receiving death threats on Twitter.
According to the tabloid, upon reading Jenkins' affair denial, one Twitter user wrote: "She's dead when I get her" - and: "I will kill that s***."
And another allegedly said: "Honestly, and you all said my dislike of Katherine Jenkins was irrational (it is, and that b**** is getting cut if David and Posh split.
"Emotional support will be needed if any truth comes from this. I love Posh and Becks."
One of the singer's pals said: "She was disgusted by the abuse because it was so sinister and scary.
"When she saw the messages she straight away wanted to protect herself by getting police involved."
Said another source: "The threat to 'cut' her got to her the most. That guy crossed the line."
A spokesperson for the Neath-born mezzo-soprano confirmed: "Due to the serious nature of the threats, the tweets have been reported to the police."
Jenkins appeared to be putting the episode behind her on Saturday.
"Back to work #HappySaturday," she tweeted to her followers, accompanied by a picture of herself smiling in a recording studio.
'One minute David is dead...'
Beckham's camp also trashed the net rumours in a statement.
"Unfortunately, we have to deal with this type of nonsense on Twitter," said a spokesperson for the star.
"One minute David is dead, then the more scurrilous rumours, there is no truth to any of it."
Jenkins, who competed on the US version of television show Dancing with the Stars earlier this year, split from her fiance, TV presenter Gethin Jones, 34, last December.
