Simon Cowell addressed the moment he upset Mel B on last week's episode of America's Got Talent where she threw water on him and stormed off stage.
The music mogul, 57, who made a crude joke about the former Spice Girl's 'wedding night' on the episode - which left her seeing red - admitted he thought she'd would have found it hilarious according to DailyMail.
When asked by his ex flame Terri Seymour for Extra if he regretted that he said, Simon confessed: 'Not really. I was trying to make light of something... I thought she'd have a sense of humour. She lost it.'
On last week's episode of AGT, Mel threw a cup of water on Simon and walked off the stage after he cracked a crude joke at her expense.
After a disappointing magic act, Simon likened the routine to Mel's wedding night - saying it had 'not much promise or delivery'.
Mel - who is going through a bitter divorce with Stephen Belafonte - stormed offstage in outrage and split her dress in the commotion.
And speaking further of the live on-air moment, Simon told Terri: 'I was the one who got soaked, so I should be mad at her. She's fine. I'm fine. Just one of those things, Terri. We got over it.'
He also utilised the moment to apologise: 'Sorry, Mel! I'll send her a puppy or something.'
During the episode, Mel also branded the show boss 'stupid' and suggested he had been insensitive about her father's death.
Speaking to Extra after the dramatic show, she explained: 'The act before made me cry, because it's all about dads and cancer and I just lost my dad.
'He goes and says something stupid like that, so then I got angry. How do you know what my wedding night was like all those years ago?'
Mel's father Martin Brown passed away in March following a long battle with cancer.
The performance which kicked off the controversy was by Demian Aditya who did an 'insanely dangerous' escape act that was badly scuppered by a technical problem.
Simon wasn't enamored and hit his buzzer in disapproval.
'I feel like this would be a lot like Mel's wedding night, a lot of anticipation...not much promise or delivery,' said Simon as Mel angrily hurled water at him.
