The Guardian apologises
"In our interview with Sir Jack Hayward, the chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers, we mistakenly attributed to him the following comment: 'Our team was the worst in the First Division and I'm sure it'll be the worst in the Premier League.' Sir Jack had just declined the offer
of a hot drink. What he actually said was 'Our tea was the worst in the First Division and I'm sure it'll be the worst in the Premier League.' Profuse apologies."
School body shaming
A high school in Florida is under the spotlight for its bizarre Photoshop attempt to eliminate all evidence of inappropriate cleavage from its yearbook photos, causing an outcry from students and parents. A black bar had been added to cover more of Riley O'Keefe's chest, and dozens of other students — all girls — had similar edits, many of them clumsy alterations that covered more of their chests. The school's dress code forbids girls to wear tops or shirts that do not cover "the entire shoulder" and from wearing shorts or skirts that are more than four inches above the knee. Shirts "must be modest and not revealing or distracting". No pictures of male students, including one of the swim team in which the boys wore Speedo bathing suits, were digitally altered. Some of the boys protested in solidarity with the girls by wearing dresses and skirts the next day.
