John Mayer has been ordered not to sing for six months after undergoing throat surgery last week.
The rocker underwent an operation to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords last Monday and is recovering at home.
The surgery comes nearly a year after he first went under the knife in October, 2011, in a bid to resolve ongoing problems with his voice.
Mayer's representative confirmed the news to CNN.com and the star has since opened up about his medical issues in a post on Tumblr.com.
The musician reveals he has been ordered to rest his voice for several months and is banned from singing until next year.
