KEY POINTS:
Kiwi comedian Jeremy Corbett has landed the presenter's role on TV3's new gameshow, Deal or No Deal.
The show is a local version of the popular international format that plays in 35 countries around the world. It will screen here later this year.
Corbett joked that the appeal of the job was "the offer. The offer of an audition and a job - that's always attractive."
He has just returned from watching the making of the popular Australian version, hosted by Andrew O'Keefe and currently screening on Prime.
The live comedy veteran and MoreFM breakfast show host said it would draw on his strengths.
He said: "I think it's where my skills lie - I love MC-ing down at the comedy club, and I like my numbers and my maths, and the show has a bit of that in it."
Essentially a game of luck and odds, contestants must choose one of 26 briefcases - which contain different amounts of money from 10c to $200,000 - without knowing how much is inside. The amount they have won is revealed at the end of the game. Corbett says he would like to be a contestant on the show, but doesn't know whether he would win big money.
"Once you've seen it a few times, you think you know how to play it... but I'm really unlucky, I've always had to earn my money, not win it."
