KEY POINTS:
It used to be that the models were the only ones suffering from anorexia, but this year the Fashion Week goodie bags are looking awfully thin and malnourished, and not in a good way. Less is not more, when it comes to free stuff. Hell, any punter will tell you that! And isn't that what most of us go to the shows for? Someone, have a word to the sponsors for next year, please.
Also looking thin was Antonia Kidman at the Yvonne Bennetti show last night. Thin and prim. She sat next to our Wendy Petrie who was sporting some indefinable look that can only kindly be described as "confused." A one shoulder-piece-of-cloth swagged over another one shoulder-piece-of-cloth that met at a tinsy tiny mini and winter patterned tights. Did Wens leave the newsroom and change into Donna Summer? Weathergirl Renee Wright does not look impressed. Night-time Wendy had gone and ruined her French femme fatale look. Blast.
Also at Yvonne's (otherwise known as "Y" to her customers) was Julie Christie and her crew: Candy Lane, Aja Rock, Annette Presley - but no April Ieremia. Quelle surprise. It wasn't surprising, however, to see Lana Coc-Croft not sitting anywhere near Christie. I don't believe the pair has patched up their differences since the stint on Treasure Island. Mandy Barker was front row (minus Dean), as was Dan Carter (minus Honor) in some fetching ensemble that resembled more chic Becks than rugby ruffian. There's no denying the All Black is in touch with his fashionable feminine side.
He was also front row at the Zambesi show afterwards that clocked in a record number of celebrity faces: Karl Urban, Peter Urlich, Noah Hickey, Robyn Malcolm, Boh Runga, Dion Nash, Tammy Davis, Annabel Fay, Bernice Mene, Bonnie Soper, Ali Williams, Brooke McAlister, Mark Sainsbury, Petra Bagust, Clem Simich, Harry McNaughton and Aja Rock. It was like Zambesi had zapped into a Zambusy place for stars.
The after-party was jam packed. We took the party back to mine (well, The Quadrant penthouse) and made a serious dent in the box of Moet & Chandon that arrived yesterday. Thank god for the Sero2 water this morning. It claims to be a hangover cure, and it is, well, I wasn't feeling nearly as groggy as I should have been after kicking out the last stragglers in the wee hours this morning.
Two magnums of Champagne Bruno Paillard Brut Premiere Cuvee have arrived too, and being an equal opportunity guzzler, it's only fair I sample with mates later tonight. It's the smallest boutique champagne house in the world and is the official champagne on The Orient Express and at Royal Ascot. The Queen sips it. So, if it's good enough for Her Maj, it's good enough for me.
And there will be more guzzling again tonight after the Huffer party. Steve and Dan's highly anticipated show is on the wharf outside the Hilton Hotel. I hope it doesn't rain. But you can bet being so close to the Harbour some poor sod will fall in. We'll keep you updated on all the goss.
