He may be the Ferndale Strangler but Shortland Street fans can't help but love Joey Henderson, played by Johnny Barker.
Henderson was named favourite male character of the year in this year's Shortland Street Fan Awards, run by fan site Streettalk.co.nz and Throng.co.nz.
Barker also claimed the prize for favourite actor, hottest male and favourite new character.
On the women's front, Tania Jefferies played by Faye Smythe was a favourite, winning favourite female character, favourite actress and hottest female.
Kimberly Crossman, who plays Sophie McKay, claimed the rising star award, while Rachel McKenna (Angela Bloomfield) is the character most fans would like to see return to the soap.
Scotty and Shanti were named the Street's favourite couple, while Alice and Craig were voted most boring.
And, somewhat predictably, the serial killer plot line was named best plot of the year.
