'She destroyed my house': Landlord slams Courtney Love

Courtney Love has been accused of "ruining" her rented house by setting it on fire.

The Hollywood hellraiser has been renting a home in the West Village area of New York City for the last 10 months. She's been paying US$27,000 a month for the four-storey abode, but its owner Donna Lyon has now decided she wants her to leave.

Lyon has started court proceedings to get Love out, claiming she's changed the decor of the property and owes around US$50,000 in rent.

In June, the star accidentally set some curtains alight when burning a candle.

"I got a call from her accountant, who said, 'Miss Love is fine,' which I was glad to hear, but I thought, 'What about the house?''' Lyon told the New York Post.

Love has apparently made other alterations to the property too.

Lyon explained she bought the house last year and stipulated anyone living there must not redecorate as the previous owner was an interior designer called Steven Gambrel who had made it look beautiful.

"Courtney has wallpapered and painted a large portion of the property without my consent. I learned about this when I wanted to sell the house and had photographs taken. They sent me the brochure and I said, 'This can't be my property.'

"I came to New York to see it and I was horrified by what she had done. The walls that had been hand-painted and glazed were ruined, covered in damask wallpaper and ice-blue paint,'' Lyon fumed.

It's been claimed it will take 12 weeks and US$100,000 to restore the home to its original state.

Lyon has received a court date of December 21 in relation to the matter.

Her lawyer Norman Flitt has claimed Love's alleged actions are "tantamount to destroying a work of art".

The star's representative was unavailable for comment.
