Catty
Sharon Osbourne
has said sorry for her vicious verbal attack on
Susan Boyle
while on a radio show last week.
Talent judge Osbourne, 57, slammed the
Britain's Got Talent
runner-up on a US radio station, claiming the Scottish spinster, 47, had been hit with an "ugly stick", and compared her to a "hairy a******"
During the raucous interview she also said Boyle was a "lovely lady" who needs a "Gillette razor".
The clip was posted on YouTube and her bitchy remarks led to a backlash from SuBo's supporters. Hence the gobby matriarch's change of tune, no doubt.
Watch a video of Osbourne's outburst below:
(
Warning:
Clip contains strong swearing)
In a grovelling apology on her
page, Osbourne said: "Susan Boyle is a lovely gracious woman and I took advantage of that by poking fun at her.
"I would never want to be responsible for hurting Susan and I must apologise for getting a cheap laugh at her expense."
A snitch close to the singer said: "Susan is a very dignified lady, I'm sure she will accept the apology."
Turn the other cheek
All eyes were on SuBo in Los Angeles earlier this week, when she dropped in for an appearance on
Dancing With the Stars
- the very show on which Osbourne's spawn
Kelly
just so happens to be a contestant.
Osbourne's no stranger to the DWTS set, often dropping in to cheerlead her darling daughter; so anticipation of an almighty evil-glare-off between the warring divas was high. Like that would ever happen. Yeah right.
SuBo went on to perform a rousing rendition of
I Dreamed A Dream
and left Osbourne to eat cake. She never showed.
SuBo's obviously a woman of substance. Stopped by a reporter at the airport while on her way to the studio, she had nothing but glowing words to say about Osbourne.
"She's very nice, very nice lady," she said. Proves she either turned the other cheek or doesn't surf the interwebnet for idle gossip.
Sexy time
The last laugh is on Sharon 'someone's pooped in my handbag' Osbourne, though. SuBo's just been voted sexier than her in a US telly poll.
SuBo scored 68 per cent in a poll by America's
Access Hollywood
, while only 32 per cent thought Osbourne had more sex appeal. Each to their own.
'Stalker'
Word is Boyle's mentor
Simon Cowell
has had to draft in extra security to protect the singer after an obsessed 'stalker' turned up at her Scotland home.
SuBo's reportedly been bombarded by a string of "weird" letters from a middle-aged American woman, says Britain's
The Sun
.
The overzealous fan was held back by SuBo's bodyguard outside her West Lothian home - leaving the singer "shaken up" by the incident.
Music mogul Cowell heard about the drama and ordered more burly beefcake for the star.
A snitch said: "Simon is not taking any chances.
"This woman is constantly following Susan around the world. It is a middle-aged American woman who has become obsessed with her.
"At first, people thought it was no more than a nuisance. But after what happened to Leona (Lewis) everyone is taking extra precautions."
Leona Lewis was allegedly
while she signed autographs at a book signing in central London last month.
Hissy fit
Shamed former Miss California
Carrie Prejean
showed her true colours during an interview with TV veteran
Larry King
yesterday.
Unimpressed by King's line of questioning (he probed her about her recent settlement with the Miss California USA pageant), she threw a tanty, threatened to walk off the show and said King was being "inappropriate".
"Why settle since you had a fight to carry on?" he asked. Prejean refused to answer. "You can't even say why you settled?" King pressed.
The rest is TV gold.
Carrie Prejan, no more crabby pills for you, Miss snippy pants.
And if you're gonna throw a proper hissy fit, it might be an idea to unplug yourself fully, raise a scornful eyebrow in your host's general direction, and actually leave the set, love...in a cloud of glitter, obviously. Not sit there like a fairy with a broken wand.
Watch and learn, babe...
