Selena Gomez says Bad Blood not about Katy Perry

Selena Gomez has dismissed reports suggesting she based her portrayal of the villain in pal Taylor Swift's Bad Blood video on the Shake It Off hitmaker's rumoured pop rival Katy Perry.

Swift takes a swipe at an industry nemesis in the lyrics for her latest hit, and many fans and insiders believe the criticism is directed at Perry.

Gomez took on the role of baddie Arsyn in the star-studded video, fighting with Swift at the beginning of the explosive promo, and fans immediately believed she had channelled the Roar singer for the part.

Reports alleged the Come and Get It singer reached out to Perry after the shoot to explain herself, but Gomez insists that didn't happen.

"That's false; I love Katy. I just talked to her," Gomez says.

"She's amazing. I didn't talk about that (Bad Blood video), but I just talked to her. She's awesome."

Gomez admits she has grown accustomed to dealing with false stories printed about her in the tabloids, particularly following her on/off relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber - but she is learning to ignore the made-up gossip.

"I think it's going to always happen but at the end of the day people see it. So if people were to say, 'Hey, she's pregnant', well, they are going to see in nine months that I'm not...

"It's just kind of obvious when things are (a) blatant lie - things are going to come into the truth instantly (sic)."
