Selena Gomez 'checks back into rehab'

Singer Selena Gomez has reportedly checked into rehab due to crippling anxiety, depression and panic attacks.

The 24-year-old has been receiving treatment at a facility in Tennessee since August 30 when she announced a career hiatus, sources told Us Weekly.

"Selena is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health," a source close to the pop star said. "She can go to a very dark place."

The Hands To Myself singer cancelled 34 remaining dates on her Revival world tour in late August, telling People magazine she needed to manage the side effects of her lupus diagnosis, including depression.

The former Disney Channel star checked into a rehab facility in Arizona in 2014, a year after being diagnosed with the chronic auto-immune disease.

Sources at the time said the star was "exhausted" and "broken-hearted", and had been "partying very hard" in the months leading up to her stint in rehab.

Gomez is currently receiving treatment on the outskirts of Nashville. It's unclear when she will return to the music scene, but she has turned to her loved ones for support.

She had dinner with her mum and stepdad at a Tennessee steakhouse on October 8.

"Selena was just like any other guest," the restaurant's manager told Us Weekly. "She was really nice and tipped well."

The next day, she enjoyed breakfast with her grandparents in the state's Riverstone Restaurant. "She was laughing a lot with them while she was eating," a witness said. "She seemed happy and relaxed."
