KEY POINTS:
The second group of Big Day Out acts has been announced. While there are no huge names joining those announced in October, music fans will still find plenty of gems to fill their day at the music festival on January 18th.
There will be a strong showing by New Zealand bands. Twenty-three new acts are on board and almost half are homegrown. They include the reformed Supergroove, new sensations Op Shop, hip hop heavyweight Scribe and former Betchadupa frontman Liam Finn.
Alternative rockers Spoon and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello (performing an acoustic set) are among the major international acts in the latest round of announcements.
New additions to Big Day Out 2008: Spoon, Brand New, Anti-Flag, Carl Cox, Kate Nash, Shy Child, Enter Shikari, Operator Please, Unkle (live), Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Die! Die! Die!, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic), Dr Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt, Aceyalone, Op Shop, Pluto, Scribe, Liam Finn, Tiki Tanne, Havoc, Collapsing Cities, Bleeders, Supergroove, The Checks and Dam Native.
They join the previously announced: Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Arcade Fire, Shihad, LCD Sound System, Dizzee Rascal, Billy Bragg, The Clean, Katchafire, The Phoenix Foundation, SJD, Grinspoon, Cut Off Your Hands, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly, Battles, Young Sid, Antagonist, Motocade, White Birds
