KEY POINTS:
In the latest Second-Hand Wedding update, we can happily report the charming little local film is on its way to making a profit.
Last weekend it broke the magical $1 million mark at the New Zealand Box Office with takings of $106,000 in its fifth week of release.
All up, the film cost approximately $1.4 million. Initially, a private investor put up $200,000 to get it off the ground, with most parties involved agreeing to defer payments until later. The New Zealand Film Commission contributed the rest of the funding after that.
Second-Hand Wedding joins just six other local titles to reach $1 million since 2001, including Whale Rider, Sione's Wedding and The World's Fastest Indian.
