KEY POINTS:
LOS ANGELES - The wife of Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland was arrested and faces a possible arson charge for setting on fire some $10,000 worth of her husband's clothes, police said today.
Mary Weiland was arrested on Saturday at the Burbank home she shares with the singer, according to police. After being booked at the Burbank jail, she was released on US$50,000 bond, police said. No further details were released on the arson.
But earlier in the day the couple had been involved in an incident at The Graciela luxury hotel in Burbank.
Police were called after reports that the couple had trashed a hotel room, according to celebrity website TMZ.com.
"Mrs. Weiland voluntarily came to the Burbank police station, where she was interviewed by detectives," Burbank police Sgt. Matt Ferguson said. "Scott Weiland arrived at the station with his attorney a short time later."
Detectives determined that the couple had argued and that Mrs. Weiland caused the damage to the hotel, Ferguson said.
Hotel officials could not be reached for comment.
Weiland was lead singer of 1990s grunge band Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver, a hard rock supergroup, includes three former members of Guns N' Roses.
