Saturday Night Live laughs: Star Wars skit and Matthew McConaughey as Adele

Actress Emma Stone ponders if there is room for a 'very convincing' part Asian woman in the new Star Wars film, during an SNL skit.

This week's Saturday Night Live was comedy gold, with hilarious highlights including a Star Wars skit and actor Matthew McConaughey dressing up as Adele.

The show took advantage of hype building around Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens ahead of its December 17 release, to have a bit of fun.

SNL cast members impersonate other actors while doing faux screen tests with real stars of the film including Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

Director J.J. Abrams introduces the video of outtakes featuring musical cameos, and appearances by famous faces such as Michael Buble and Emma Stone.

Celebrities given the SNL impersonation treatment range from Modern Family's Sofia Vergara, to singers John Mayer and Wynonna Judd, soccer pro David Beckham, actor Danny DeVito and basketballer Shaquille O'Neal, in a Chewbacca outfit.

Star Wars wasn't the only hilarious addition to SNL this week.

Adele's hit song Hello works wonders for silencing family drama in a segment titled, A Thanksgiving Miracle.

The skit begins with heated discussion over race, refugees, Isis and burnt turkey at the dinner table.

Needless to say, it gets a little too much, until the youngest family member unites everyone with one song.

The first notes of Hello unleash a wave of emotion.

At that point the entire table becomes swept up in the moment, touching their faces in mocking movements.

Actor Matthew McConaughey hosted SNL for the first time in 12 years and appears as Adele, donning a wig and false eyelashes.

By the end, the entire cast had landed inside the official video.
