The first trailer for immigration love story Brooklyn has debuted online, and shows Irish actress Saoirse Ronan could be on the path for Oscar glory.
Based on the novel by Colm Toibin, Brooklyn follows young Irish woman Rose (Ronan) as she migrates to America. The trailer shows her settling into her new life and new home, even finding love with Italian boy Tony.
But her world is rocked when she has to return to Ireland, forced to choose between her two lives on opposite sides of the world.
The movie premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it quickly emerged as an early contender for the awards season. Much praise was given to Ronan's performance.
The Guardian's Jordan Hoffman described her as "marvelous", while Variety's Peter Deburge says she gives a "quietly powerful performance" and that her most subtle facial movements are "as emotionally devastating to audiences as icebergs are to transatlantic ocean liners".
