Salma Hayek gave up her dream of going into space for her child.
The 43-year-old actress - who has two-year-old daughter Valentina with husband Francois-Henri Pinault - splashed out thousands of dollars to reserve a space on Virgin Galactic's first planned passenger space flight but didn't think it was an "appropriate" thing for a parent to do.
She said: "I reserved my place with the Virgin [Galactic] expedition. And then I got pregnant. And now I'm a mother. So, I'm not going to go."
The Frida actress admitted she has given up several of her other favourite pastimes since becoming a mother because she worries they are too risky.
She said in an interview with America's InStyle magazine: "I love scuba diving and used to dive where the sharks were, and now? No more sharks.
"Everything becomes about the baby. You are in second position, or third."
However, Salma insists she doesn't neglect herself and her needs entirely, and focuses her energies on making herself look good.
She explained: "You have to balance everything in your life and while, yes, your children and husband must be important, you have to dedicate time to yourself.
"The mother of today needs to find ways to be comfortable and stylish at the same time."
