SAG Awards: Best and worst dressed

Our fashion jury round up the best and worst looks on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet.

Best: Tie between Julianne Moore and Julianna Margulies
There was so much to love at the SAGs, from Ariel Winter's body confidence, to the menswear-inspired shout-out from Julia Roberts in a Givenchy tuxedo onesie. But best gown, for me, was a two-way win between Julianne Moore in elegant emerald green Givenchy haute couture, that perfectly complimented her red hair; and Julianna Margulies in royal blue Giambattista Valli haute couture with a chic thigh-high split. So sophisticated and stylish. Both ladies, 54 and 48 respectively, appear to be ageing in reverse. What is their secret?

Fashion people are so mean about poor Lady Edith on the show and in real life, and for good reason. Laura Carmichael was less Downton Abbey and more Downton Shabby at the SAGs, sporting bedraggled beachy hair and an ill-fitting white halter dress by Vionnet with sheer fabric in a bizarre pattern that looked one part Zebra, one-part fingerprint. You know, somewhere, Lady Mary is smirking smugly.

Best: Emma Stone
Emma is killing it so far this awards season. She looked stunning in a Christian Dior Couture dress, and Christian Louboutin shoes. This girl knows just how to stand out on the red carpet, but do it in the right way. A short structured blazer-like dress, with a sheer skirt to show off her legs, some cute peep toes, and the slick back hair is just the right amount of sexy. She loves switching it up, and giving it a boyish edge, like the cute jumpsuit from the Golden Globes and now this structured dress, I love it!

What is happening here...? The Boyish actress has an edgy and sometimes gothic style, but this? The Addams Family meets Gloriavale. It's not even a flattering shape, and it creeps me out you can't see her hands. Plus the hair! I'm all for coloured hair, I mean Demi Lovato and Kylie Jenner rock it, but not for the red carpet babes...

Best: Reese Witherspoon
This is how you wear white without looking bridal. Reese is rocking old Hollywood glamour and she looks sensational. The dress is moulded to her every contour and she looks flawless. I would have loved a bolder lipstick to complete the look but it's still an A+.

Worst: Dascha Polanco
Not only has this dress been done before - with similar designs sported by Beyonce and Kim Kardashian in the past 12 months - it's been done better than this. This is too tight, too bridal and just not flattering. I'm also not a fan of the blonde extensions that have been woven into her fishtail braid. It looks cheap and wannabe Kardashian. And no one should ever want to be a Kardashian. Ever.
