It's not the first time Reynolds had gently poked fun at his wife seven years by way of an unflattering photo.
Notably, in 2017, he shared a photo from the set of her film The Rhythm Section in which the Gossip Girl actress appears barely recognisable in a tracksuit, scruffy bomber jacket and blue beanie complete with a short blonde wig.
He accompanied the image with the caption #nofilter, and the post was liked by over 1.2 million people.
And on her birthday that same year, Reynolds wrote an Instagram post wishing his "amazing wife" a happy birthday, with an image that cropped out Lively almost entirely, his own smiling mug taking up the bulk of the frame.
An expert in the art of trolling herself, Lively has been known to seek revenge on her husband on her own Instagram page.
On Reynolds' 41st birthday, she shared an image of notoriously handsome fellow famous Ryan and close friend of Reynolds, Ryan Gosling.
"Happy Birthday, baby," she wrote beneath the image, which has over 2.2 million likes.
Lively is currently pregnant with her third child to Reynolds. The two have a four-year-old daughter, James, and two-year-old daughter Inez.
Lively revealed she was pregnant in May at the premiere of Reynold's film Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, donning a yellow dress which closely framed her bump.
Lively and Reynolds were married in 2012 after meeting on the set of Green Lantern in 2010.
Reynolds' 43rd birthday is approaching this October, so we can only imagine Lively is already planning her own cheeky post in return.
