He took aim at a woman who insulted his "chunky" appearance at the royal wedding by posting an unflattering snap of her on Instagram.
And Patrick J Adams has since apologised for sharing the photo after he was criticised for publicly body shaming the woman.
In a lengthy statement, the Suits star, 36, said he swiftly took the post down after realising "any sense of being a bully or lashing out felt wrong".
He wrote: "Yesterday I posted a photo of a woman who did some casual body shaming of my wife and I in the airport. My intention was solely to put a face to the people who think that sort of glancing commentary is necessary, helpful or funny.
"Some of the comments on the post instead said I was being a bully and should have taken the 'high road' (some also doubled down on the body shaming. Thumbs up guys!)
"I thought it over and agreed and took it down, not because I felt the woman was right or fair or undeserving of being called out but because any sense of being a bully or lashing out felt wrong."
The actor added that after his actions had hit the headlines, he wanted to have his say on the matter.
The apology came after Patrick revealed his royal wedding appearance came into question by a fellow airport passenger, who claimed he looked "chunky" in his morning suit at the celebration.
The Canadian actor, who attended the nuptials with his fellow Suits co-stars and wife Troian Bellisario, then uploaded a shot of her sleeping to Instagram, before he quickly deleted it after sharing it to his 2.1 million followers.
Patrick, who played lawyer Mike Ross on the series for seven years, revealed the unnamed woman commented on his weight as she referenced a photo of him at the wedding while he waited for his flight back to the US at Heathrow airport.
The actor captioned the unflattering photo: "She reads her paper. Sees picture of me and Troian from wedding. 'My God. What a terrible photo of you.'
"I look over. 'Really. I kind of like that photo. What do you think is wrong with it?' She pauses. 'Well, you're just so ... chunky.' She laughs and falls asleep. And ... scene."
While he was praised by some of his loyal followers, others were less than enthused by the pointed move which later influenced his decision to take the shot down.
One fan commented: "I expect better from you. She's rude and what she did was uncalled for but sometimes you don't have to get even."
While another follower shared: "So rude! You both looked great! Someone's jealous they didn't get to go."
The snap comes after his actress wife and former Pretty Little Liars star Troian revealed that the bride supplied guests with slippers during the wedding reception.
The director, who donned a Temperley London dress, carried her heels in her hand as she slipped on the comfortable alternatives.
Troian, 32, said while walking barefoot during the wedding reception: "How amazing is this? Because these shoes have come off. They have slippers for us."
A gentleman asked her: "Would you like a pair madam?" to which she answered: "Yes please!'"
She tagged Sarah Rafferty and Abigail Spencer; the two actresses co-starred with Meghan and Patrick on Suits.
Troian chose a peach coloured long-sleeved dress with a keyhole detail and a empire waist; the lovely frock featured silver star detailing along each shoulder.
She added gold and crystal accented heels as well as a peach coloured headband that featured netting along the front.
The 36-year-old actor played Mike Ross for seven seasons on Suits; Meghan starred on the show as Rachel Zane.
