Singing sensation

Susan Boyle

is embroiled in a clash between her family and

TV bosses over how to manage her new-found fame, tabloid reports say.

The 48-year-old 'unkissed' Scot, now a global superstar following her rendition of

Les Miserables

song

I Dreamed A Dream

on the TV talent show, is said to be feeling the pressure as a result of a rumoured behind-the-scenes row.

The clash

So what could possibly mar the adoration and success that Boyle has enjoyed since she was thrust into the public eye after

that

performance?

Boyle's clan, her brother

John

in particular, is reportedly furious that she is being held back from exploiting her fame and cashing in on her popularity in the US.

Speaking to British tabloid the

Daily Star

, Boyle's sibling says he believes the singing spinster could be "earning millions of dollars with a tour of America".

But TV producers - including sourpuss judge

Simon Cowell

- reportedly want Boyle to keep things 'low-key' until she sings before

judges again in five weeks' time. TV big wigs are understandably worried that the 'Boyle effect' might undermine their prime-time TV show in some way.

Boyle's brother doesn't agree. The tabloid reports that he's trying to persuade ITV producers to allow his sister to harness her fame overseas, before the interest in her diminishes.

"Just let her sing. We're pleading with Simon Cowell to loosen the reins," John said.

John, who is now acting as his sister's manager, added: "Every entertainer wants to crack America and Susan would love to go over and let everyone hear her sing.

"I haven't read the terms of her show contract (Boyle is said to be tied to a contract with ITV), but I want to see her go over," he said.

"Things are mad at the moment, there's just so much interest in her.

"Susan has had to change her telephone number to put a stop to all the calls."

"There is a public appetite for a single but no product for people to buy. BGT need to sort this out"

Another family member, Boyle's brother

Gerard

, has also vented his feelings to the

newspaper. He believes his sister is now "too big" for

Britain's Got Talent

(BGT) and should exit the show now to concentrate on making a record.

"There is a public appetite for a single but no product for people to buy. BGT need to sort this out," he said.

Totes miserables...

He also expressed concern over Boyle's health and the stress that comes with fame and world-wide attention.

"When I last spoke to her she sounded exhausted. I said, 'How are you?' and she said, 'Oh, Gerard, I've been here there and everywhere'...I could tell she was absolutely shattered. I said to her, 'Get off the phone and get to bed. You need to rest'," he said.

John, who lives near his sister in Blackburn, West Lothian, also expressed concern for his sister's wellbeing.

"The hype and celebrity don't mean anything to Susan - she just wants to sing. It is all she has ever wanted to do.

"Finally she has the chance to show the whole world her amazing talent, but she isn't being allowed to.

"The whole world is crying out to hear Susan sing again - they want a product, be it an album or a single - but they want it now."

He added: "We are more and more worried about her health. She is not used to all this and when I speak to her she sounds exhausted."

There's also speculation that Boyle - aka the 'Hairy Angel' as the warbling spinster's often referred to in the tabloids these days - has moved away from her home in Blackburn to a secret location to shelter from constant press attention.

"It's like a scene from the film Notting Hill each time she opens the front door," Gerard said of the media intrusion.

The siblings are also wagging their fingers at BGT bosses for seemingly not doing enough to prepare Boyle for the media storm.

"The pressure would be so much less if there was a management team in place to look after her. Is there a management deal or not? I imagined Cowell would move forward on this.

"The problem is she's got too big for the show - we've got a star on our hands now," he said.

Don't become a 'gimmick'

Svengali Cowell agrees - Boyle is a star - but he's warned her to not get too big for her boots.

Speaking to reporters in the US last week, Cowell said: "I keep saying to everybody, she's got to win the next stage. It's [up to] her," he explains.

"She has four weeks to prepare for the biggest night of her life, which is, she's got to sing better than she sang before.

"It could all go horribly wrong now because there's so many other distractions," he added.

He said he was tired of hearing about Boyle's life, her cat, Pebbles, and other "distractions".

"The problem is with all the sub-stories about the cat and how she looks.

"I'm tired of hearing about the way she looks or the kissing, or this or that. Susan mustn't become a gimmick," he added.

He advised the singer to knuckle down and "Get yourself together, sweetheart, for the big one - which is the semi-finals.

"Choose the right song, focus yourself, shut your front door, maybe take a holiday and come back to the person you want to be and not as the person you think you should be."

Sage advice. There's an undeniable danger that Boyle could suffer from over-exposure at this rate. Too much, too soon, babe. It's only a matter of time before the inevitable backlash occurs, and the tabloids who once trumpeted her glory start analysing her success and question why she's become so popular. It's the nature of the tabloid beast.

According to the

Times

, the swiping has already begun.

Tabloid cynicism aside, there's no question that the public has embraced this underdog and catapulted her to the heady heights where she belongs.

So Boyle, make hay while the sun shines and live your dream, sweetheart.

But that's just us. We're suckers for a fairytale. What do the voices out there in the dark think?

Do you think Boyle should bail from

and release a record?

UPDATE:

Susan Boyle has denied reports she wants to leave

Britian's Got Talent

. "There is absolutely no truth in that. The only way I'd leave the show is if Simon Cowell kicked me out," she said.

The songbird also denied she was "stressed" and "exhausted" as reported in the tabloids.

"I'm not stressed and I'm certainly not on the verge of a breakdown. I've never felt more positive, it's all nonsense. I'm not going anywhere; I just want to concentrate on my singing."

She added: "All I can promise is to do my best and confirm to everyone that I’m not leaving the show."
