Less than two months after hit Roseanne reboot was sensationally axed following its star's racist Twitter outburst, spin-off show The Conners has been given a release date.
The US ABC network has revealed it will premiere the series in mid-October, despite most of its new shows kicking off in September.
The delay was caused by the abrupt cancellation of Roseanne and the two weeks that followed of urgent spin-off negotiations, meaning production began later than usual.
Roseanne Barr, the star and creator of the original series, was fired in May and the reboot cancelled after she fired off a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, the former senior adviser to President Barack Obama.
Earlier this week, the actress was relatively unapologetic as she discussed the vile tweet in her first on-camera interview since the scandal broke.
