Cirque du Soleil is back in town with a new show.
Totem will be in Auckland until the end of September, with the first show at Alexandra Park on Friday.
Local iwi were on hand to welcome the Totem team with a powhiri yesterday, and several members of the show also joined in with a haka.
The 46-strong cast and support crew have a packed schedule, with two shows on many performance days.
Totem is Cirque's 26th creation and traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly, taking inspiration from themes of evolution, transformation and the natural world. It has been touring for four years.
