KEY POINTS:
Tickets for superstar comedian Chris Rock's Auckland show in August sold out in a matter of minutes but there is one Aucklander who should be allowed on the guest list.
Because when Rock was performing at the Bonnaroo rock festival in Tennessee last week he mentioned him in his routine, sort of. Riffing on presumptive Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, the comedian said he was impressed by Obama and joked that his name makes him sound like "the bass player for the Commodores".
Funnily enough, the actual bassist for the Commodores - Ron La Pread - has lived in Auckland for quite some time since leaving the band. He was reunited with band frontman Lionel Richie at the singer's Vector Arena show last year.
La Pread couldn't be contacted for comment about Rock's presidential joke. But we're sure he'll appreciate this campaign T-shirt, should the man who co-wrote Brick House ever think of going for the White one.
