Twilight star Robert Pattinson was hit by a taxi in Manhattan yesterday after reportedly running from a throng of his teenage fans.
Celebrity news website radaronline.com reported that the 23-year-old actor was clipped by the cab as he left a bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street.
As he ran out into the street to escape his mob of fans, the taxi reportedly grazed his hip.
Pattinson was not hurt in the incident.
Radaronline.com reported that one of Pattinson's bodyguards checked the actor was okay before yelling at the fans: "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"
However a spokeswoman for the film company producing Pattinson's new movie Remember Me, which he had been filming scenes for prior to the incident, told New York's Daily News website reports about the accident had been "exaggerated".
"It was not caused by his fans," Vivian Mayer said. "Production continues."
Pattinson is considered one of the world's hottest young stars.
In a recent poll on the Vanity Fair website, he was named Most Handsome Man in the World, taking 51 per cent of the 27,000 votes cast.
A People magazine list of the hottest bachelors of 2009 this week also named him at number 10.
