Rihanna won't press charges against Chris Brown, reports say. Photo / AP

UPDATED:

Singer

Rihanna

has refused to press charges against her boyfriend

for allegedly assaulting her last month, reports say.

British tabloid

The Sun

reports that the Barbadian songbird, 21, has told police she doesn't want to help them with their investigation after reportedly rekindling her romance with the singer - to the dismay of her family and fans.

Brown was

arrested in Los Angeles

on February 8 after an alleged altercation with the

singer, which reportedly left her badly bruised.

Shocking pictures of injuries allegedly inflicted on Rihanna later surfaced on the net showing her with bruises to her eyes, nose, cheek and a swollen mouth.

A police snitch says, "Rihanna says she doesn't want to testify against him [Brown]. She has had a change of heart and doesn't want the case to proceed."

But whether Rihanna decides to co-operate or not, it looks as though the case against Brown may be strong enough to proceed without her testimony.

"However detectives are still building their case based on what she originally told them and accounts of witnesses.

"If the DA decides they have enough evidence, they can proceed without Rihanna's testimony," the snitch adds.

The Daily Telegraph

also points out that California law allows prosecutors to charge an individual with domestic violence, even if the couple reunites.

A file on the case has been handed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for review.

The couple, who split briefly after the alleged attack, are widely

reported to have reunited

this past weekend and spent some quality make-up time at the Miami home of rapper

Sean 'Diddy' Combs

.

They were later photographed

arriving back in Los Angeles

via a private jet on Monday and are said to be currently in hiding in Beverly Hills.

Rihanna's family are said to be deeply unhappy about the reconciliation.

"Everyone wants them to take a break, to cool off," a source recently told

People

magazine. "No one wants them back together.

"I'm concerned. I don't want her to make a mistake, and I don't want her to ever go through this again."

Brown is due to appear in court later today.

Fan outrage

In related princess RiRi news...some of the R&B singer's fans have launched an online petition, dontdoitrihanna.com, urging her to reconsider her reconciliation with Brown.

The online petition pleads with Rihanna not to give Brown a second chance. It says, "We the undersigned feel Chris Brown should not get another chance and Rihanna should move on."

Users are then asked, "Sign the petition to keep Rihanna away from Chris Brown."

One posted comment on the site says, "You are supposed to be a role model. Would you tell your fans to do this?" While another asks, "You can have any guy you want why this a**clown?"

And the award for made up story of the day goes to

Star

magazine. The magazine reports that Rihanna and Brown have secretly skipped down the aisle after Brown proposed over the weekend.

A snitch tells the tabloid, "The couple had a tearful face-to-face meeting at Diddy's $14.5 million Miami mansion, during which an emotional Chris apologised, begged for forgiveness and proposed to her on the spot."

"All she's ever wanted was to be with him forever.

"Rihanna is looking for the husband-and-two-kids deal before she turns 25. She believes in fairy tales, and she wants to live hers with Chris.

"She was totally up front and confessed to him, 'I can't live without you.'"

Now that's what we call a TTF (Total Tabloid Fairytale). Keep dreaming, guys. See, anything is possible if you don't know what you're talking about - even faux weddings. WALOOS.

Talking of weddings...

Adding 'IT-sult' to injury

Poor

Madonna

. First she had to contend with a public ribbing after it was revealed that her ex

Guy Ritchie

now calls her "IT", and now this.

Her Madgesty has reportedly been sent over 100 copies of

Stephen King

horror flick

IT

on DVD to all of her addresses.

A snitch tells Britain's

Daily Star

: "She's received the packages at all of her addresses so she suspects they are from somebody she knows. And she is furious."

The ageing-backwards diva also received 50 copies of the novel by King, about a demonic clown with a penchant for evil.

"It's been said that Guy compared her to Pennywise the clown, the evil monster with the dodgy make-up, " the snitch adds.

"But now her homes are full of reminders and she doesn’t know how to get rid of them."

We reported earlier this week how Ritchie can no longer bring himself to say Madonna's name,

preferring the nickname "It"

instead.

Meet Kanye, 'God's Vessel'

And the unstoppable juggernaut that is

Kanye West

's ego trundles on. Yup, he's back blowing his own horn again.

Not content with simply being the self-proclaimed "voice of this generation", West now thinks he's "God's vessel".

He reveals, "I do have an ego and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego.

"Think about it - I don't offend people, I don't put anyone down. Do I name names or bring people down? That's not my thing. But I give myself big-ups. I feel good about the music I make.

"God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God's vessel.

"But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live."

What a tool.
