Last year may have been the year of band reformations, but 2008 is set to be the year Kiwi audiences actually get to see their favourite acts of yesteryear.
Smashing Pumpkins has announced a three-date tour this Easter, in a massive double-bill with Queens of the Stone Age.
The American rockers will play Wellington's TSB Arena on March 20, before heading to Vector Arena on March 22 and then down to Christchurch's Westpac Arena on March 24.
It's been 12 years between visits for the Chicago-based band, who reformed two years ago, following their 2000 split.
Queens of the Stone Age last graced our shores in 2003, playing the Big Day Out, a performance made infamous by an electrical glitch that forced them to cut short their main stage slot in the afternoon and then play the closing slot on the top field later that night.
Meanwhile, 80s idols Duran Duran will pass through Auckland the following week, playing one show only at Vector Arena.
The band is back to playing sans guitarist Andy Taylor, who left the band in 2006. Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor will play Vector Arena on Wednesday, March 26.
Tickets to all four shows go on sale Monday, February 11.
